Monday Frogness
Aug. 9th, 2004 03:50 pmThere is much progress to report: they moved him to a regular room in a Rehab unit last night at 9:30 (I left him sleeping around 7). He's unhooked from almost everything now--just getting some oxygen and occasional monitoring. They had to give him a different bed than the one he spent the night in, though--it was too short for his 6'3" body. Which now weighs 40lb less than it did going into surgery. No wonder he still has to work to stand up under his own power. He'd sat up so long today waiting for his new bed and eating lunch and such, he couldn't get up from the chair while I was there before coming in.
He says he'll be coming home this week, perhaps as early as Wednesday. Friday will be three full weeks after his surgery--which was supposed to keep him incarcerated less than a week. Helpful advice: don't get pneumonia immediately after lung surgery, folks. It really doesn't enhance the recovery experience one little bit. There are some truly fine nurses and doctors and therapists working at MoBap--but meeting them like this is just no fun!
Anybody who wants to drop in on him--try 428A. Don't say I sent ya, though. *grin*
